January ’24 Joys

Keeping up with tradition from last year, I will be doing monthly favorites. January lasted a lifetime, but it was overall good, not bad. For the average month of January, I found some things that sparked joy and a lesson learned.

One. Trying new recipes. I have at least three new recipes! I love Din Tai Fung and their fried rice (actually, I love any fried rice). I tried a copycat recipe, and it came out super close! I also tried a new breakfast, which consisted of a potato patty, smashed avocado, and a runny egg topped with crunchy chili onion. It was not for me, but I tried it, and I’m happy to know that it wasn’t for me.

Two. Trader Joe’s Crunchy Chili Onion. I know I am late to the party on this one. When it was uber popular, I cast doubts if I would like it. I am kicking myself! I would love to go back and love it earlier! I put it on eggs, breakfast sandwiches, pizza, xiao long bao, and potstickers!

Three. Books. In my last post, I included my intention of reading 27 books in 2024. So far, I have read 7 and am currently on my 8th and 9th books. I have reached a stage where I am open to reading all types of books. In years past, I would stick to only one genre. However, this year, I noticed I read whatever caught my eye. If you want any book recommendations I am here for you!

In January, I learned to take things slow and to focus on the intentions for 2024 that I set for myself.
