I am enjoying how slow this year feels. It is only early April, and there’s already so much I have learned already. Slow years make for great memories. Below is a list of activities/things/experiences I was keen on in March 2024.
One. Saying yes to new experiences at work. I joined the social committee at work. This committee is responsible for one fundraising and one social event each month. It seems like not many people want to join and there can be a lot of negativity toward the events. However, I am learning quickly that you cannot please everyone, and sometimes things do not need to be perfect. Plus, it is fun thinking of activities that can happen during the workday.
Two. Reading different genres. In March, my short goal was to read four books, of any genre. I read a novel about witches in the PNW, about a woman who was a spy in WWII, a teenager at summer camp, and a hypnotist. I liked a couple more than others and some grew on me after I turned the last page. More often than not, the book I end up loving is a genre that is unusual for me.
Three. Be intentional. Whether this is with time, movement, or fuel, I was more intentional in March. This takes so much discipline and it comes with a higher reward. I set another short goal of moving my body at least three times each week. Most weeks, I intentionally went on a walk after work or went to the gym and those weeks I felt great mentally. I was able to separate work thoughts from non-work thoughts. I was more apt to wake up earlier for quiet time in the morning. I have a better outlook because I was intentional about movement and the time of movement.
In March I learned to take my time.
What did you learn in March?
