One. Organization. My job requires a high level of organization since I deal with so much data from many places. I see a disorganized area as a puzzle. Which item can go where for the best use of space? What can be moved so the most used items are in front? I also credit a class I took in college. The professor said you never want paths to cross when dealing with traffic flow. That stuck with me ever since! Now, I notice where paths cross and better placement of stations in stores or in restaurants.
Two. Penny-pinching when necessary. Luckily, I do not have many expenses and most of the time I am penny-pinching to squeak out another payment on my student loan. However, I am not extremely penny-pinching. I learned where I can splurge and where I can save. I am very fortunate in that I do not have to say “no” to many experiences. I can say “yes” to experiences because I know what I can take off my shopping list.
Three. Finding deals. This kind of relates to the second thing I am good at. I constantly compare prices at different grocery stores to see what I can get cheaper. Luckily, the town I live in is not too big and has multiple grocery options. Sometimes, if I see chicken on sale I will buy it and then portion it in the freezer.
Four. Trying new things. I am the first person to tell you that I do not like change. However, this year I have really given trying new things a go. It is not always easy and sometimes I go in with my hands open but tense. I learned a lot about what I do and don’t like.
Five. Cleaning. This goes along with the first thing listed. I spend most weekends refreshing my home. I love starting the week with clean bedding, and clean floors. Cleaning soothes my mind (probably because I am in full control), and it is satisfying to have a place put together for the week ahead.
Danielle.
I love finding a good deal. It’s the best!
